Best £1.50 ever spent!

Have you ever happened upon something that turns out to be brilliant? And to make it even better, it only cost £1.50!
The other day while grocery shopping I came across a product that said it would descale tea pots and appliances that have built up lime scale. It was £1.50 so I thought why not try it, if it didn't work it was not a big investment. Well, it worked brilliantly! The inside on my kettle looks like new. It is so rare that a product actually does what the manufacturer claims it will. In the past I have purchased cleaning products, some expensive, hoping for miracles and have been sorely disappointed. So finding this product at such a great price and have it work so well was incredible!

When I first moved into this flat there was stain in the bottom of the toilet that I have tried everything to remove and nothing has worked. After the great results with the kettle I wondered if it might work in the toilet, perhaps the stain was also lime scale. What would it hurt, right. Well, it worked, brilliantly!!

Sometimes I think we expect to pay a lot for something for it to be worthwhile, lasting or of quality. In some cases that is true but not always. How often do we pass up wonderful opportunities, items or experiences because we do not see the full value or the extent of how it could be used. Do we avoid doing something because it seems insignificant, beyond our abilities, or outside our goals or dreams? I enjoy seeing similitudes between events or aspects of our daily lives and the gospel.

The gospel is simple and yet of great worth, priceless actually, and sometimes we miss the great impact the seemingly small or insignificant things can have on every aspect of our lives. We may never know the amazing difference our £1.50 of effort, time, investment, or service will have on our lives or the life of someone else.

This past Saturday was my last shift as a volunteer at Ham House. I have loved that opportunity! The people I have worked with and met are fantastic peepsand I learned so much from them. I could say this was another "£1.50" well spent (about the price of a bus fare) for a seemingly simple experience that will likely have a continual impact on my life and career.

My usual bus stop was closed so I got off on the next one which took me on a different path to Ham which was delightful, even in the downpour. Some parting shots from the last walk to volunteer at Ham House, for now.

Cheers!
