1 Month in Kingston Upon Thames

It is a bit crazy that I have been living in England for a month! It has been a month full of learning curves, discoveries and joy. That was a quick month and I am not sure how I let the last week go by without a post! That said this post may have a onslaught of photos. I put a lot of miles on my feet this past week.  Wandering around Kingston for class and adventuring on my own has been delightful. There is so much to see within an hour walk in any direction from Kingston. I have not needed to ventured anywhere by train or bus yet, but I will soon. As a class we are traveling to the V&A (Victoria & Albert) museum, in London proper, on Wednesday so that may propel me embark on more adventures by train.

Every time I walk through the Kingston market I see this flower vendor and they really are beautiful. One of these orchids may have a new home soon, now that I have a surface to put it on.
I was meeting a friend for breakfast (Yes, I have made some friends...don't be cheeky!) the other day and while I waited I noticed a few shops I want to pop in and check out. I see these child carriages everywhere, (that is what I call them but knowing the British they likely have a cooler name than that) awesome idea though.
The views on my preferred side of the Thames are stunning! The fall colors draping the fence line along the edge of the Hampton Court gardens and the buildings reflected in the water....awe.
St. Mary's church in Long Ditton was one of my destinations this week and so worth the walk. I rambled through a street market complete with Macarons and huge blocks of aged cheeses, I only purchased the macarons my fridge isn't big enough for the cheese. I continued on along beautiful residential streets lined with fabulous examples of architecture, around parks and eventually to an enchanting church yard with an incredible history and a gothic inspired church complete with gargoyles. The white statue of the woman holding a wreath marks the grave of a man who died on the Titanic and who's body was recovered and returned home for burial, one of the few. The flowers popping up through the fall leaves looks like spring is attempting to come back.
