Inspiration comes in many forms and for me it occurs most regularly in nature.
Color schemes appear on frosty winter mornings with a background of a brilliant blue sky or at the heart of spring as gardens burst forth in an array of vibrant colors. Picturesque moments in nature translate beautifully into the elements of a concept, converge in a design, or influence the colors and patterns of fabric and wallcovering designs. |

Travel Adventures
Through my travels and experiences, I have developed a great love of nature as it blends and contrasts with architectural elements
in historic to modern day settings. I love the allure, textures and sometimes imperfect characteristics of natural and sustainable
resources and incorporate them into my designs as often as possible. Traveling allows me to experience for myself the different cultures, see various aspects of design, learn about the history and evolution of design in person. Personal experiences far outweigh what can be read in a book and that says a lot because I love books! My design perspectives have expanded because of my travels, which also adds a depth to how I design, teach design and the history of design, architecture and furnishings.

Creative / Artistic Side
Interior design, in all aspects, is multi-faceted problem solving. Problem solving translates into developing concepts and designs, planning spaces, and designing fabric and textile patterns that are balanced, harmonious, and incorporate a little of the unexpected. Each design is as unique and distinct as the various styles of design. Art has always been a contributor to how I design. Sketching out concepts, developing color schemes or creating ideas. Art is also something that will benefit students in similar ways as they learn to hand render, sketch and develop ideas.
